Weathering

Definition: Most models come out of the box looking like they just came out of the paint booth. In real life, trains get dirty quickly. Weathering is the process of duplicating the effects of time and nature on a model. Paint, chalk, even real dirt can be used to recreate the look of grime, dirt, rust, fading paint and more.
