Evaluation

For the collector interested in the exotic this is a wonderful set. For parents who don't mind venturing outside the mainstream this is an economical alternative to larger HO sets for their children. This set includes Tillig's integrated roadbed Bedding Track with 310mm radius curves and two straight sections (plain and feeder) sufficient for an oval of approximately 26x33 inches.

The components of this system reflect the quality we've come to expect from German enginnering, with the exception of the powerpack. The powerpack included for the American market is an old style Bachmann unit made in China. People who know model trains are aware that items made for Bachmann in China are of questionable, hit and miss quality. If there is a weak link in this set, the powerpack would be it. I'd purchase a better quality power pack to use with this set.

Options

Tillig offers a range of bedding track products including turnouts and curves of two diameters; 310mm (12.2") and 353mm (13.8"). Tillig also offers numerous European railcars and locomotives in TT scale at a wide range of prices.

Other Considerations

Availability of this set in North America is very limited. The only seller I know of who lists it on their web site is Euro Train Hobby (I am not affiliated with them). While this set was a bargain when I bought mine, the fluctuating price of the US Dollar against the Euro may impact its availability and price.
