O Scale (1:48)

O scale model railroading has been around for more than a hundred years. O scale trains are made by Lionel, MTH, Marklin, and a few others. Many smaller companies that make O scale trains are now owned and operated by Lionel or MTH.
About O Scale
O scale comes in two three-rail and two-rail varities. Original three-rail is "standard" O; but some later track and trains conform to the O27 specification.

Three Reasons I Don't Recommend O Scale for Children
Forget train tables, O scale trains are the original "carpet runners". O scale layouts take a lot of space. Even though low end sets are competitively priced with the better N and HO scale sets, I have serious reservations about giving O scale train sets to children.
