Perhaps the easiest way to make trains a part of any vacation is to incorporate a ride or museum visit into the itinerary. A ride behind a steam locomotive or a visit to a large model layout is certainly an experience that can be fun for the entire family.

Of course you shouldn't rule out making the train part of the way you get to your destination either!
