Bachmann Industries was established in 1833. Their earliest products were hair combs, umbrella handles, and cane handles made of ivory and tortoise shell. Bachmann was an early pioneer of the use of plastics and developed many injection molding techniques. In 1946 they entered the model railroading market. At this time they were acquired by the Kader Company, one of their principal suppliers. Today Bachmann Industries is the largest distributor of model railroad trains and accessories in the world.
