Notes:

The E5 locomotive was the seventh in EMD's E Unit series of enclosed body, covered wagon style passenger diesel electric locomotives. Like the other early E units the E5 engine is a "slant nose" model. Manufacture of the first E6 locomotives were completed before the first E5. The E5 differed from the other slant nose E units in that it was clad in stainless steel for use with the famous Zephyr passenger trains of the Burlington Route.
