Let's end 2012 on a high note! This latest locomotive profile covers one of the most famous, popular and successful locomotives of all time. The Pennsylvania Railroad's GG-1 electric locomotives could be found hauling everything from coal to the Broadway Limited from the 1930s to the 1980s across the northeastern United States. It is estimated that some traveled more than 5 million miles in service.
The streamlined locomotives have been successful sellers to model railoaders as well - even if you don't model the overhead catenary system. The locomotive has been modeled in every scale from Z to G. There have also been plenty of GG-wannabe's over the years for the toy train market.
Always one of my personal favorites, the more you learn about these amazing machines the more you love them. This newest locomotive profile features a brief history, a list of paint schemes and known models.
