Mounting Switch Machines in Odd Places

There are many different types of switch machines and motors on the market. Each have their own advantages and mounting requirements. But sometimes the space you have doesn't match the switch machine you want to use. Where there's a will there's a way.

With the help of a home-made linkage, this Tortoise machine was moved from a tight location under the platform to the back of the layout where it will be hidden inside a building.

A little creative thinking can make almost anything possible. And while your situation almost certainly won't be exactly like the one shown here, these same steps can be used and slightly modified to work with almost any switch, motor, machine and situation you'll encounter.
