If you model the 1980s, chances are good you could use some of these locomotives on your line. Of course there were also plenty of locomotives from earlier decades roaming the rails as well, but these models were the latest and greatest.
From versatile all-purpose locomotives like the GP38-2 to high-horsepower monsters like the C40-8, the 1980s offered a lot of interesting motive power. In a decade dominated by EMD standard-cab locomotives, there were some stand outs like the unique F40PH passenger diesel and the rounded angles of GE's Dash 7 line.
