There are some railroad paint schemes that have become icons of the rails - the Denver and Rio Grande's "Action" font is one of them. The orange and black locomotives with the angled lettering present a striking and memorable image. Reproduced in model form and even copied by other railroads, the "Action Road" image lives on years after the company itself disappeared into a merger with Southern Pacific.

Despite the merger with Southern Pacific, and a subsequent take-over of that carrier by Union Pacific more than a decade earlier, D&RGW 15656 is seen passing through UP's North Platte, Nebraska yard with its original paint intact and in good condition. The covered hopper is a product of FMC. This car has been produced in many scales in this and other schemes.
